INILAH.COM, Jakarta - Coinciding with 60 years of relations between Indonesia and Canada, trade between the two countries reached 61%. Trade between the two countries recorded an increase of U.S. $ 1.8 billion to U.S. $ 2.9 billion. This was stated by Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa, who met with Canadian Foreign Minister John Baird, on Thursday (08/23/2012).
For Canada, as reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs press release, Indonesia is the country's largest investment destination in Southeast Asia. The two countries also agreed to establish a Consultative Forum Ministerial RI-Canada.
"Annual Forum Foreign Ministers level is intended as a forum for reviewing the implementation of the agreement, Indonesia-Canada relations commitments and identify opportunities to improve relations between the two countries," said the Foreign Minister.
According to him, the relationship between Indonesia and Canada have long historical roots. Sixty years, continues to grow stronger, both bilaterally, as well as in various global forums. The two Foreign Ministers also discussed various issues of regional and global.
Increased ASEAN-Canada relations as dialogue partners, the positive developments in Myanmar and regional architecture issues became the main focus. Both Secretary of State helped brainstorm on various global issues that are currently facing the international community especially the cooperation between the two countries in promoting human rights, good governance and democracy.
